Touch Pro to Land on Verizon or Sprint

Posted by Brandon Miniman on June 30th, 2008

Well, well, well - look what we have here. Looks like the FCC is passing the Touch Pro as CDMA phone as Engadget Mobile has pointed out. That could only mean that Sprint or Verizon will get the device. Now, this doesn’t mean that if you use T-Mobile or AT&T you won’t be able to use it - you’ll still be able to import the European GSM version whenever it lands over there, but you won’t get the handsomely subsidized price that those on Sprint and Verizon will get.

If you want to get technical, view the FCC filing. And if you want more info, such as timing, price, etc, check back here for more.

what is the point of paying top dollar to bring a phone over to use on a crappy edge connection. the way things are going, t-mobile is content letting their PPC/Smartphone customers jump ship which they will in droves. they are more interested in doing wifi at home. I am curious why they are even rolling out 3g?

Good points, dave. I think T-Mobile is becoming good at making people not *think* they want 3G by having their device with WiFi, and soon, UMA.

I know Brandon. I can’t understand their thought process on this. It’s like they want to just be known for cheap calls in the US. I like t-mobile but it’s hard to justify paying them 20.00/month when I can pay 30/month to get 5 times better performance. Maybe they just realize their too far behind the curve and need other revenue generating business lines to remain viable.
