For those of you getting ready to buy a Touch Diamond, make sure you know which version you are buying. HTC recently released model number P3702 with code name HTC Victor. The specs are different from the original P3700 with code name HTC Diamond. This new model sports a rounded back and loses the diamond-like look. The front is a lot cleaner and looks similar to the UK T-Mobile Compact IV. It retains the 3.2 MP camera from the original Diamond. At the same time, however, the new P3702 loses the RAM with only 128MB instead of the 192MB. GSMArena speculates that the video accelerator isn’t available because of memory constraints - 64MB of RAM is taken up by the accelerator in the P3700. Most other features are confirmed to be the same as the P3700, but there is no assurance that there is an accelerometer.
Be wary and make sure you know which version you are buying. You might get more(or less) than what you expected.

It does look a lot cleaner and more uniform. I just don’t know if I want to lose the video acceleration because of it. I know that this is the version that sprint and verizon will be getting too.

Will the htc victor get a section of its own in the forum or is it considered the same as the diamond. If it doesn’t have a video accerlerator, it might be different enough to warrant another section.

It’s just speculation that it won’t have the video accelerator. It’s not confirmed yet but I don’t know if it would have a separate section because of that. Maybe.

Don’t laugh at me but what is video acceleration?
I really want this phone and placed a pre order at
Mobliecityonline.com -per website- phone due in
early Sept 2008 but when I called- a sales rep
mentioned the phone may not arrive until Oct.
so now I am looking at the Sprint Sept 2 ARRIVAL DATE
Will there be a US version of the Victor? Any firm dates on any Diamond US phone??

Video acceleration is what helps display all graphics/video by having a separate processor just for the purpose. Otherwise, TouchFLO 3D would have to be handled by the main processor, which may make it more sluggish or slower.

Pl do not buy htc diomond phone from india as it is locked with Airtel. It is a bad business practice to lock a one product with other. we must avoid buying HTC Diomond. I filed a complain to TRAI on this matter. Shame on Airtel and HTC for such practices
