AllTouchSite Says Goodbye (For Now)

Posted by Brandon Miniman on September 15th, 2008

We’re pretty sure that T-Mobile isn’t bringing any of the new HTC Touch devices to their network this year, and as a result, AllShadow.com users are looking at devices like the Shadow II or HTC Dream for their next phone. Should this situation change, we will consider bringing this site back, but for now, our focus will stay on making AllShadow.com a fantastic community and site. We’ll see you over there!

Goodbye (for now) =D.

Haptic Feedback for your Touch Diamond/Pro

Posted by Nishanth Samala on August 21st, 2008

Thanks to jbrb who posted a list of functionality apps/hacks on XDA, you can now add haptic feedback for the phone pad of your Touch Diamond or Pro, though it would be mainly aimed at the keyboard-less Diamond.

Haptic feedback is physical feedback to a user to allow them to know when they’ve pressed something on a touch screen device. In this case, it is a small vibration that lets you know when you’ve pressed key. The longer that you press down on the button, the longer the vibration. The feedback is great even if you quickly peck at numbers on the phone pad.

Unfortunately, at this time, it only runs in the phone dialer pad. It would have been better if this feature was extended to the soft-keyboard input panels that would make typing in Opera and any other app just as easy as in the phone app. Hopefully, this will be in an update soon.

You can download the app here. Just save it to your phone and run the cab file from the explorer.

Why suddenly am I talking about the hardware panel when I’ve been writing about software? Well, today I’ve got some breaking news over from XDA-Developers. I’ll explain more about that below. First off, the hardware panel on the Touch Diamond includes a D-Pad, scroll wheel, center button and four hard buttons: Home, Back, Answer/Start call key, and End Call Key. Read on to find out about the multitouch features on the Diamond!

Get a Diamond For Less Through the AllTouchSite.com Group Buy

Posted by Brandon Miniman on July 20th, 2008

Ok guys, so I’ve been negotiating with the owner of SMG, which is a mobile phone store, on getting together a group buy for the HTC Touch Diamond for AllTouchSite.com readers so that you can save some money. I’ve personally bought from SMG many times in the past, and the experience has been good and the shipping fast.

The average price of a shipped Diamond right now is around $715, as I’m sure you know. You probably can find lower prices, but it’s going to be from a sketchy store, and I’m sure you don’t want to place that much of your money in the hands of someone that may not be legit =D.

That said, the group buy is for $651 shipped to your door via UPS 3 day air. That’s over $50 cheaper than you’ll find in other places =D. Now, this being a group buy, we have to have at least 10 people interested in this offer before we can get that lower price.

Instructions: Reply to this post in the comments and say “I’m in!” Be sure to use your correct email address in the comments because when we get up to 10 responses, I will have SMG email you an invoice at this stated price, and we can get a Diamond out to you ASAP.

The Samsung i900 Omnia Competes with the Diamond

Posted by Brandon Miniman on July 9th, 2008

Have you heard of the Samsung i900 Omnia? If you’re thinking about getting a Diamond, the Omnia is a similar device that you should at least consider. GSM Arena has posted a fantastic nine-page article comparing the two devices. Nine pages is a lot to read, so we’ve summarized it for you. Read Full Entry

Welcome to AllTouchSite.com!

Posted by admin on June 19th, 2008

Hey Guys. Welcome to AllTouchSite.com, a site for future HTC Touch devices. This site will take on a similar format to AllShadow.com. Because the HTC Touch Diamond and Touch Pro aren’t yet available in the US, the main site here will be in a low profile mode for a few weeks with little or no activity. In the mean time, feel free to start using the forums.

Also, we’re looking for writers (and yes, we pay). If you have excellent writing ability, significant experience working with Windows Mobile, and enthusiasm about HTC’s upcoming Touch devices, ping me at brandon(at)alltouchsite.com (be sure to write “Apply” in the subject, or the email won’t be read).
